Hi, my name is Mary and like you I have suffered with sleep deprivation due to my children not sleeping soundly through the night. Although Eve and Joe are now grown up. I remember, like it was the day before yesterday, lying in my bed crying in the early hours of the morning as I fed my daughter for the, what felt like the millionth time, I felt totally alone, and I recall thinking I was the only one in the world in this situation! Even now, almost 21years later, this memory is vivid!
I am a registered nurse and a qualified midwife. My career spans over 3 decades. Most of it has been working with young mothers, babies and families with young children. Having worked as a Midwife for over 10yrs and a Community Staff Nurse with a Health Visiting team for 8 yrs, I think I can safely say supporting and educating young families is where I am most comfortable and happy.
It really was a natural next step when my interest in children’s sleep heightened when working with the health visiting team. I was supporting families of young children every day, who were dealing with normal, everyday child behavioural problems. The most common being sleep and more often than not sleep issues would be at the root of most other behavioural issue! The thing is sleep is the foundation to everything. It is fundamental requirement, it is not a luxury, it’s a necessity and if we don’t get it, everything falls apart!
In early 2015 I completed a sleep training course which allows me to practice as a children’s sleep coach, safely, confidently and very effectively. The methods I use are gentle and bespoke. Our children are individuals and one sleep plan does not suit every child. My experience and expertise allows me to adapt a sleep plan for your child’s temperament.
So what do you get when you hire me?
- You get 30 odd years of experience as a health profession, caring, helping, supporting, talking, educating, problem solving PLUS my very effective, gentle sleep coaching training, which is definitely the cherry on the top of the very large cake.
- You get someone who has been where you are and understands the nightmare of a sleep deprived life and personally knows how it isn’t ‘just another sleepless night’, but the negative ripple affect through every single aspect of your precious family unit!
- You get a person who is naturally empathic, professional, easy going, non judgemental, honest.
- You get someone who believes we all deserve sleep and will do her utmost to give you the best service possible.
"Mary is fantastic! She helped me get my 6 month old baby from being up every hour to sleeping thru the night. It's great having someone who completely understands and cares on the other end of the phone each day, really helped motivate me to do what I needed to do. Thanks Mary." - Laura Hirst
